First of all, I would like to clarify that the title is pronounced “chris-t” as in Christy without the y and NOT “cry-st” as in Jesus Christ. I’m glad we’ve got that out of the way.
The Christ-List is a collection of fashion trends that currently have me starry eyed.
A LIST made by me, CHRISTy. . . 😊
Denim is a staple, there’s no doubt about that, but it can sometimes get too conventional and boring. I’m loving this current trend of fringe and ruffles and patchwork that is happening with denim right now, and embellishments are just another way to make that plain denim skirt or pair of skinny jeans all the more interesting and stylish.
I consider myself to be a crazy bag lady, and by that I mean that when it comes to my bags, the playful-er and colorful-er the better. So when I started to see sequins and patches and colorful embroidery on handbags. . .even designer handbags (Gucci has really been nailing this trend) I was the personification of the smiley, blushing emoji.
I’m not sure that “alphabet jewelry” is really what I should’ve called this trend, but it sounds better than “word jewelry” so I’m just gonna roll with it. Basically any jewelry that has something to say, whether it be a designer name, your name, or a proclamation of your babe-hood.
I recently saw a picture on instagram of a pair of jeans with grommet eyelets going down the side and ever since then I’ve been becoming slightly obsessed with the grommet look. Now I’m in the market for more grommet-y things to add to my wardrobe. And I love metallic anything, so the fact that grommets are metal is really just the icing on the cake.
See above note on metallics.
The only thing about this trend is I feel like those pleats are hard to wear when it comes to ~curves~, and I’m not sure that they would look good on me BUT I do really enjoy looking at them which is pretty much all that counts. Also, METALLIC lamé-ish fabric!
I think my love of flatforms is engrained in me from my Spice Girl fanatic days which, let’s be honest, really never ended. While I am a bit partial to what I call the Baby Spice shoe, aka the giant flatform sneakers, the oxford/brogue-type flatform is my current favorite, especially when they’re metallic because . . . .did I mention that I love metallics? Seriously, I have a disease when it comes to silver shoes, I already have two pairs (how many pairs of silver shoes is too many?) and I still constantly have to talk myself out of buying more.
